Extremely valuable when drilling deep holes for screws.
The media could not be loaded. I have been drilling holes in wood for as long as I can remember. I thought this could come in handy when your hole needs to be as accurate as possible outside a drill press which doesn't work so well on walls. I am building a stand for a couple of rain barrels using 2x6 lumbar and initially I had to screw the corners together before I reinforce with some Strong-Tie. Using 3 1/2" screws I wanted to drill some pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting so I decided to try this block to keep my holes from angling off. I marked off my screw location and with this tool made every hole as straight as if I were using a drill press. What I did was put my long bit thru the matching size hole then positioned my bit against the wood where I was drilling. I slid this block up against the wood giving me a flat support and it worked like a charm. Even between corner braces I was using on top and bottom of the boards. As long as this last flat you can't run your bit off on an angle so when you are in a position where you can't see if your drill is perfectly level and in line with your work well this solves that problem. I'm going to invest in more of these to cover other size bits as this will come in handy day hanging shelves especially hanging shelves where you are drilling into structure and you can't afford to have you screw come out of the stud because you were on an angle. When it matters, when the hole I need such as in my rain barrel stand then this tool really is priceless. Sorry for the video, best I could do using my phone to record but I believe it shows the function of this tool.

Good buy for the price
Works pretty well. Helps drill holes straight enough. Good buy for the price

good basic drill guide
As some others have stated, this has a limited selection of hole sizes, but I knew that when I purchased it. For the price, it's well constructed and useful given that limitation. I don't use it a lot, but it has helped me a few times when I needed more than eyeball precision for a perpendicular hole...didn't need to be perfect, but just more than I'll get on average with eyeballing. the metal sheathing around the hole is durable...I needed to drill a 1/2 inch hole over my head and after getting the bit started, I slid this on the bit, slid it to the surface and was able to hold it well enough by hand. Got a great hole, I can't tell I shaved any metal off the sheath. Good value and glad I have it around--should have got it or something similar a long time ago.

nice guide
Nice guide at a great price, and I don't have to search for it at a hardware store.

Good Tool
This works. It keeps you drill straight. You need to punch a hole though to be efficient.

great drill guide for the money
works great, if your drilling into corners or for a precision job other than a drill press, this is for you! Build quality is fantastic for home use and the accuracy is great. Very easy to use.

Convenient, cheap, and works.
Getting old. Never needed aids to drill center or 90 deg before but time always wins. This little tool is cheap and accurate and for this hobbyist/occasional use homeowner it works great.

Does not work very well on curved surfaces like drilling into the side of a dowel.
This drill guide is probably okay for flat pieces of wood, but to drill into a dowel or other curved surface, it is not very good. It does sort of fit on the curved surface, but not firmly enough to make much help. Even by clamping it onto a dowel, it is still not great. Also, the 1/2 inch hole is too small for a 1/2 inch drill bit, at lease the ones I have.Price is good.Overall, an adequate, but not great tool.My grade a C-
