The media could not be loaded. Amazon had this train for the cheapest price! Everywhere else was $100-$150 more! Great value, wonderful quality, and we played with this train all night for days for Christmas! Easy to assemble, easy to take apart and store for next season! If the lights turn off, it means your train is off track and its ALWAYS an easy fix! Mistakes happen all the time by kicking, or bumps! Just put it back on the track! This train will last for years! Our family loved it and so did social media! LOL! Perfect for around the Christmas tree and was so beautiful to look at at night! Get your kids a Lionel locomotive train! My grandmother always said they were the best and they really are! This one one reminds me of the train set I had as a child! It brought back so many childhood memories! Every child deserves a train set! Get them the best of the best! Lionel!

When I set this up, I did not expect it to have all the bells and whistles....get it? But it was way better than advertised. I didn't realize that you could hear Harry, Ron, Hermione, and of course Hagrid from the train. Anything from the trolley came rolling out of the hidden speaker. The train will produce smoke and a chugging sound. You have complete control over it because of the app. One of the things that I like the best is that I didn't have to have any other equipment. The track controller and engine come with cars and work right out of the box!

Don't expect a plug and play experience. This is a hobby that requires lots of maintenance. If you can't use a screwdriver you shouldn't buy this.Luckily I am a hobbyists.I didn't expect so much maintenance. Tracks need cleaned almost daily. They get a waxy build up that interferes with power transmission.I had to physically modify some springs to make it run correctly. After 20hrs of run time I had to open up the Chief train and solder the 2nd gear on because it was slipping on the splines.I'm not disappointed as I expected all of these issues. Now it runs pretty darn reliably after all my fixes. Tracks still need cleaned often.

Received this set today. The locomotive doesn't work. I thought I had a short in the track. So I just used the terminal section of the track to test the cars and locomotive. If I place any car on it, the car lights come on and the terminal light stays steady. As soon as I put the locomotive on the track, the terminal light starts flashing on and off and the locomotive moves backwards a couple inches at a time each time the terminal light flashes. I'm assuming I'll have to contact Lionel or go through Amazon to replace the whole set. I bought this for my son for xmas, now it's doubtful he'll get the replacement by xmas. Not happy.~~UPDATEI just tested the power supply and it is outputing good voltage (18v) so it's definitely an issue with the locomotive. I'm sending this set back to Amazon for a replacement today (11/28). If I get a replacement by xmas and the new locomotive works, I'll increase the rating.~~UPDATEI called the folks at Lionel, took a while to get through but they were nice enough. Unfortunately, having the locomotive repaired would have meant no train for xmas, the process would take too long. However, Amazon's great replacement policy had a new set on the way right away. New set works great! Overall, happy with the train. Maybe a review a few months down the road.

The product description says that the Dementor Coach is included in this package but this is incorrect. After issuing a replacement request and describing the issue to customer service, they proceeded to send the same item to me. At that point went to the Lional Trains website and got the item number for both versions with and w/o the dementor coach. The Lional Store on Amazon does not appear to have the item number I want. This can only be found on the Lional site or other providers. The problem is that the web description being used is for a more expensive product so if you're paying for this product your paying about $40 too much depending on the going rate for a dementor coach.The product however is outstanding. Even if I don't get it through Amazon, it's typical Lional quality and loads of fun for a train enthusiast.I ended up purchasing from Lional direct. It takes about the same time to deliver and only cost $14 more....for the correct item.Correct advertising is key here. At least Amazon made returns easy.Thanks for that.

The locomotive and the sound car are very heavy and sturdy, the passenger cars are plastic and altogether it is so cool! It was easy to set up and operate, plus it was easy to disassemble and store back in the original box. Very pleased with the purchase!

This definitely brought out the big kid in me! Excellent train with great detail that the kids and I absolutely love. Easy to assemble and the smoke and sound effects had us all with stars in our eyes. It’s gonna make the holidays ahead next level!

Our train arrived exactly as it was detailed on the website, and it runs perfectly. A few quick things of note that people should be aware of.1) The smoker is turned on by default, on the train section you'll want to turn it off first before use if you are not loading it with smoke fluid before it's first use. This will keep the smoker from getting damaged. The switch is hidden where the conductor would be if it was a real train... It is a little hard to see at first.2) Some of the car connector sections can be a bit sticky, so it might be difficult to hook your train together... don't worry, it is just stubborn. Good news is it holds them together well, you just need to get them together in the first place.3) If you do not unplug the tracks, and turn the remote off, it'll make a beeping noise. Don't forget to unplug the track before turning it off.Otherwise it is a lovely train set, and a lot of fun to have running around the tree.
