GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 (Opal) – Compact & Secure Travel Router!
I picked up the GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 (Opal) Travel WiFi Router for added security and convenience while traveling, and it has quickly become an essential gadget for me.Pros:✅ Compact & Lightweight (5/5): This router is small enough to fit in my pocket or backpack, making it perfect for travel. It doesn’t take up much space and is easy to carry around.✅ Easy Setup (5/5): The setup process is super simple—just plug it in, follow the user-friendly interface, and you’re good to go in minutes. Even if you're not tech-savvy, the instructions are clear and straightforward.✅ Secure Public WiFi (5/5): One of the main reasons I got this router was for extra security when using public WiFi. It acts as a middle layer between my devices and the public network, reducing risks of hacking and data theft.✅ Dual-Band WiFi (5/5): With AC1200 speeds, it provides solid performance on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The Gigabit Ethernet port is also a nice bonus when I need a wired connection.✅ Repeater & Bridge Mode (5/5): Works well in hotels, airports, and cafes, where I can extend WiFi signals or create my own private network.✅ Supports OpenWRT & VPN (5/5): It supports OpenVPN & WireGuard, which means I can use my own VPN service for extra privacy. Great for bypassing geo-restrictions when traveling internationally.✅ Reliable Performance (4.5/5): Handles multiple devices at once without lag. Streaming and browsing work smoothly, though I wouldn’t expect it to handle heavy gaming or 4K streaming on many devices at once.Cons:⚠️ Limited Range (4/5): Works great for a single hotel room or small space, but don’t expect long-range coverage—this is meant for portability, not whole-house networking.⚠️ No Built-In Battery (4.5/5): It needs to be plugged in via USB-C, which isn’t a huge issue, but a built-in battery would have been nice for true portability.⚠️ Not Ideal for High-Speed Streaming (4/5): While it's fast for general use, don’t expect top-tier speeds if you have a super-fast gigabit connection—this is a travel router, not a high-end home router.Final Verdict:The GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 (Opal) is an amazing travel router for those who value security, portability, and ease of use. It’s perfect for business travelers, frequent flyers, and anyone who needs a safe, private network while on the go.

Compact, Powerful, and Easy to Use—Highly Recommend!
I’ve been using the GL SFT1200 router for a bit now, and I have to say, I’m seriously impressed. From the moment I unboxed it, it was almost a plug-and-play setup. I had it up and running within minutes, and accessing the admin control panel through the web interface was a breeze. If you're not super tech-savvy, don’t worry—it's incredibly user-friendly. You won’t get lost in the process of setting it up.What really makes this router stand out is the sheer number of settings and configurations you can play around with. It’s packed with customization options that let you fine-tune your network just the way you want it. Whether it's setting up a guest network, parental controls, or VPN configurations, it's all here. I haven’t seen this much flexibility in other routers I’ve used in the past. It’s perfect if you love to tinker with settings.Despite its small size, this router is a beast. It’s surprisingly powerful for something so compact, and it handles multiple devices with ease. Streaming, gaming, and working from home haven’t posed any issues. One thing to note, though—it does run a little warm, but nothing that seems to affect performance. I’ve read other reviews mentioning this too, so it seems pretty normal. The range and signal strength are impressive considering the size, and the portability factor is another big plus. You can easily take this with you if you need a strong, secure connection while traveling. In short, if you’re looking for a router that’s powerful, customizable, and super easy to set up, I highly recommend the GL SFT1200. It’s got everything you’d want in a router, plus some features you might not even know you needed until you have one.

Cheap travel router works great in my hotel. Instructions are not good but youtube has resources.
This was not expensive as i went for the cheaper model. Using it at a long term stay at a Holiday Inn where we all share a public network. This allowed me to create a 2.4 and 5G network to run a bunch of devices and add a layer of security to my browsing. I run an Alexa, and several LED wifi bulbs (its a LONG TERM STAY) my phone and a laptop. Configuring it to its fullest requires a little work on your end to find Youtube videos that can really help you. My buddy couldnt get his PS5 to work on the Hotel network but when he got one of these, he was able to make it work as well. I really love it as a travel router. Its small and fairly reliable - i have to go into it and reconfigure it from time to time but that could be a hotel problem. I stream my firestick off it too - and thats been flawless.

great unit and easy to setup!
Super easy to setup. The big difference between this one and other models of similar price is that this one is capable of receiving and broadcasting 2.4ghz AND 5ghz. For my specific use case I was looking to pick up a 5ghz signal that requires a login (so need full router mode and not just an extender) and then rebroadcast it as a 5ghz and 2.4ghz signal. This let me accomplish just that and I had it setup in less than five minutes. I've got sixteen devices connected to it, and all are connected fine, no issues!
